The Evolution Of (Henry) Mann follows Henry Mann, a 30-something single New Yorker eager to settle down…or so he thinks. After receiving an invitation to his ex-fiancée’s wedding, he embarks on a quest to find his perfect date.  After a 2018 Off-Broadway run, writers Douglas J. Cohen and Dan Elish revisit their script to this 21st Century romantic comedy for this new production.

He loves rom-coms. He writes rom-coms. Well, he lives in a rom-com, though the meet-cute never happens. From surviving the dating(-app) scene in NYC as a Chinese gay man, to finding self-love through a lifelong frenemy and a new hot neighbor, join award-winning composer-lyricist Durra Leung as he comments on the hidden episodes of his life with original songs. Performed by Leung and a small ensemble of performers, this 60-minute musical event is part cabaret and part fabulous self-exposé.

Their set is composed of projections based on the original rendering that prompted the writers, and we will be taping the performances similar to a live taping of your favorite multi-cam sitcom...Each night, writers will be working with our creative team and actors to test out new jokes, punch up lines, and maybe even try a new ending. No two shows will be the same and they are inviting the public to join their live studio audience."

The Roundabout Directors Group was created to offer resources and provide career assistance to early career directors for the American Theatre who have traditionally been denied equitable opportunities in the theatre industry. Building on the work begun through the Roundabout Directing Fellowship, the group will create artistic community for directors at similar stages of their careers, fostering camaraderie, lateral mentorship, access to expanded professional networks, and insight into the workings of a large not-for-profit institution.
