The Little Mermaid
Director's Note
Who do we want to be? Who are we afraid of becoming? These questions crafted the vision for our adaptation of the beloved Disney classic.
Discovering one’s identity is never easy - it requires a remarkable amount of courage, curiosity, and fearlessness. The ensemble on stage this evening possesses these qualities. In the spirit of Ariel’s adventure, the cast has explored, questioned, and played with every moment of this production to find both the identity of their characters and the show itself. Visceral, audience-dependant storytelling was valued above visual spectacle to create a minimalistic, full-sensory, environmental experience as bold and beautiful as the heart of its central character.
By re-examining both the images of the film and the physical attributes of the Philip Lynch Theatre, we proudly present to you a theatrical experience that is unique to this space.
